It is so hot, isn’t it?

It’s the dry season again and unfortunately, many of us are still stuck at home without the luxury of air conditioners.

Because of this reality, we can’t help but be thankful for menstrual cups. If it weren’t for these amazing period products, our days would have been a lot worse. That’s because disposable pads, which are made mostly of plastic, are not comfortable. In fact, there are just too many things we don’t miss about using them.

Here are some of them:

That icky feeling down there

Disposable pads are made mostly of plastic, which makes them uncomfortable to use, particularly when it is hot. Moreover, they give that icky feeling down there once users begin to sweat.

Rashes

One of the things new menstrual cup users tell us about is how smooth the area surrounding their intimate parts has become since breaking up with disposable pads.

Well, that’s because they no longer have to deal with the rashes that pads are known for causing, especially during the dry season. And, we know, it’s also the nightmare of menstruators who have sensitive skin.

Uncomfortable (and sometimes even sleepless) nights

Trust issues aren’t always caused by failed relationships. Sometimes, they can also stem from products that are supposed to work but just don’t—like disposable pads. Because of that, a lot of sanitary pad users need to limit their movement to avoid leaks. Indeed, it can get really uncomfortable at night, especially if temperatures are really high.

The smell of rotten period blood

Another thing we don’t miss about using disposable pads is the smell of rotten period blood. In fact, we used to cringe a lot upon detecting its foul smell each time we pulled down our undergarments when peeing or changing a pad.

And who would ever forget the smell of soiled sanitary pads collected in a bin or a plastic bag in preparation for disposal? As we all know, the smell usually gets worse during the dry season. High temperatures speed up the movement of molecules, therefore increasing the rate of diffusion.

Now we’re just glad we don’t have to deal with these things anymore. But of course, it would be so much cooler if more menstruators would discover menstrual cups and enjoy the benefits they offer.
